I am a psychedelic, cannabis, and substance-use writer, with a focus on content marketing.

I am currently available for hire as a writer. I’m open to freelance, part-time, and full-time positions.

Who Am I?

My name is Kai, and I am a professional writer based in the outskirts of London. I have been a writer for 7+ years, and have focused on psychedelic and substance-use writing for around 3 years. I became attached to this industry after discovering significant health benefits that were brought about by LSD and ketamine. Since then, I have been extensively researching and writing about this space.

Most of my work has been in the form of content writing or content marketing.

I have an academic background in Philosophy & Law (1st Class Honours). This has helped me to explore complex topics and present them in a simple and straightforward manner. I’ve found this to be extremely useful when writing within the psychedelic niche as there are often scientific, spiritual, ethical, legal, and philosophical angles to be covered and balanced against.

What Have I Written?

During my career, I have written content covering a range of topics and styles, such as:

  • Harm reduction

  • Health benefits of psychedelics

  • Health benefits of cannabis & CBD

  • Longform essays and research reports

  • Newsletters

  • Philosophical and spiritual writing

  • Trip reports

  • Reviews

  • Academic work

  • Scientific reports

  • How-to guides

  • Social media posts

  • Pharmacological explanations

  • Entactogen discussions

  • Mental health writing

  • Ethical discourse

Case Study #1: Existential Horror Magazine

I am the writer and creator of the Existential Horror magazine series. This is a project dedicated to critically examining psychedelics and substance-use culture. I have written the vast majority of articles and texts included within both Vol.1 and Vol.2 of the magazine. The aim of the magazine is to provide insights, guides, trip reports, harm reduction, and scientific and spiritual discussions related to the psychedelic space (whilst also entertaining audiences). The magazine has a specific focus on classical psychedelics, cannabis, and dissociatives.

This is a project solely managed by myself, which I have bootstrapped over the space of several years. As this is a magazine series, the main driving force for it is the writing contained within it. It is marketed and advertised primarily via content writing.

Case Study #2: PsyDAO

PsyDAO is a decentralized organization designed to help fund scientific research and artistic endeavors related to psychedelics. The project crowdfunds the production of various ideas by distributing grants which are voted on by its community. PsyDAO is a part of Molecule, one of the largest decentralized science ecosystems.

My role at PsyDAO was to create a document that provided insights about current research happening in the psychedelic industry. The aim was to highlight cutting-edge discoveries made by scientists around the globe, as a way of introducing people to PsyDAO and teaching them about the importance of psychedelic research. This was achieved by including an introductory discussion on what PsyDAO is, and how it connects into the wider psychedelic industry.

The tone of the work straddled a very fine line between being academic, whilst still being readable and accessible to a non-university educated audience. This was an extremely rewarding challenge, as it pushed me to break down pharmacological and neuroscientific information to make it easy to read, all while ensuring it was still accurate.

Case Study #3: TokesPlatform

I was a content marketer at TokesPlatform, a service that provides blockchain-based software and remittance solutions for cannabis suppliers, merchants, and distributors. The project was initially created as a means of helping legal cannabis companies to receive payments, as many financial institutions place unfair and unnecessary restrictions on them. However, TokesPlatform soon expanded to offering solutions for transparent supply chain tools, so that consumers and businesses could learn more about where the cannabis they were purchasing was coming from, and what its cultivation and growth methods were.

I wrote several articles that focused on the relationship between the cannabis industry and the blockchain space. The purpose of these pieces were to provide people with insights about both markets, and teach them how they can help one another. The target audience was B2B clients for TokesPlatform.
